The Arab Center for Research and Policy Studies and the Doha Institute for Graduate Studies have published Issue 12 (January/February 2023) of the peer-reviewed journal AlMuntaqa, dedicated to the humanities and social sciences and published in English. The issue includes the following studies: “Understanding the Secession of Somaliland: History of the Formation and Failure of the Somali State (1960-1991)” by Suhaib Mahmoud; “Women's Rights and the Palestinian Authority” by Ayah Randall; “An Illusory Unity: Understanding the Construction of Kurdish Political Identity” by Seevan Saeed; “Migration and the Developmental Impact of Migrant Remittances on the Urban Space in Tunisia: What Development Dynamics?” by Chiheb Yahyaoui; and “The Right to Education and Egypt's Prison Policies since 2013” by Saif Alislam Eid.

AlMuntaqa 12 also features an analysis of Arab Opinion Index data, “Popular Political Opinions in the West Bank and the Gaza Strip since 2011: Insights from the Arab Opinion Index”, by Yara Nassar. It concludes with reviews of Azmi Bishara’s Democratic Transition and its Problematics: A Theoretical and Applied Comparative Study by Sena Khateeb and Asef Bayat’s Revolutionary Life: The Everyday of the Arab Spring by Sofia Hnezla.
